Sneak and Peek essays
Sneak and Peek articles The nationalist go about as a report is shocking completely. Anyway to examine the record and what's going on with it, completely, would take fifty pages. I have chosen to examine one explicit arrangement, talk about its effect and propose an elective arrangement. In the wake of the September eleventh assaults and in various Bacillus anthracis assaults, a bill was brought before congress, named The Patriot Act; the name in itself appears to constrain any American to help it, as though we are unpatriotic to pair it. The current official organization constrained this bill through congress by asserting that the blood of future lives lost were on the hands of these legislators and congressmen in the event that they didn't pass this bill. Looking back, this entire circumstance is by all accounts one that would bring forth impractical notions and rushed activities, and just in light of that I should stay distrustful of the loyalist demonstration, even before I started to intently analyze i t. While numerous arrangements of this demonstration are gross infringement of American common freedoms, we will uncover one explicit arrangements blemish, and recommend an elective answer for the difficult that arrangement addresses. This is a little endeavor to recommend elective answers for the arrangements in this freedom abusing act. The arrangement we will take a gander at is area 213 of the nationalist demonstration. It extends the administrations capacity to look through property, and perform wiretaps without fair treatment. I will contend that the progressions that segment 213 realizes are an infringement of the fourth amendment, and on the grounds that they disregard the fourth amendment and could prompt appalling shameful acts, the nationalist demonstration ought to be looked into completely. This is a warmed discussion on the grounds that each American has faith in their entitlement to a sheltered home and that protected home must be sheltered from government badgering, similarly as it is protected from the basic criminal, or destructive executioner. A decent answer for this issue is just financial plan for, recruit, train, and put on the boulevards more... <!

Children of Men Film
Offspring Of Men. ââ¬Å"Children of Menâ⬠Directed by Alfonso Cuaron. Is set in the year 2027, in a confused world wherein people can not reproduce anymore, Theo Faron a previous dissident, consents to help transport a wonderfully pregnant lady, Named Kee, to a haven situated out adrift, where her childââ¬â¢s birth could assist researchers with sparing humankind. In the film Children of Men, there are numerous vital scenes to help pass on the possibility of the film, anyway I discover one of these scenes especially significant; to be specific the condo scene. In this scene Theo is being passed through the boulevards of London to the Ark Of Arts to visit his cousin Nigel. The chief uses various procedures to help depict the topics and thoughts, for example, music, setting, lighting and mise-en-scene. During the loft scene, the tune ââ¬Å"The Court Of the Crimson Kingâ⬠by King Crimson is playing out of sight; The verses in this tune help depict the possibility of mankind ââ¬â¢s downfall. Blood red is the shading credited to somebody who is enraged, for instance how God must feel toward humanity for its wrongdoings. Yet, the insightful never allude to God straightforwardly, for it appears to be nutty and conjectured.Instead they allude to Godââ¬â¢s appointed specialists, in this age embodied as dark red situated ruler. All the insidious sounding fights toward the start of the succession is bone-chilling with detail of different scriptural sections foreseeing the apocalypse. It suggests that fruitlessness is Godââ¬â¢s discipline for manââ¬â¢s sins as humankind moves toward the terrific finale. I. e. the last reaching a crucial stage summit of the human adventure. Likewise during this scene the lighting assumes a huge job in making the mind-set which the crowd feel. It guides the watcher to what the character is feeling, bringing the watcher into the film. The scene begins with Theo being driven however the occupied and swarmed lanes of Lond on, loaded with vehicles, individuals and nonconformists. The climate all through the initial segment of the scene is very shady stressing the diminish mind-set in the scene. It is very dull and melancholy, this depicts the association with the downturn all through the nation because of the fruitlessness. The pictures and lighting are like pictures that record the enduring of individuals during the downturn of the 1930s. In any case, inside the recreation center the climate begins to light up making everything look lavish and vibrant. It appears to be preposterous to see such a solid differentiation in the wake of going through the magnificent entryways. This infers the expression ââ¬Å"The grass is constantly greener on the other sideâ⬠This assists with demonstrating how the individuals from the open consider this to be of London as an ideal thing and that everything is better, however this maxim generally winds up being bogus; these individuals despite everything live in a s imilar world, it is each of the a figment, Further on in the scene Theo says to his cousin Nigel, ââ¬Å"A quite a while from now, there wonââ¬â¢t be one single miserable f**k to take a gander at any of this (which means his apartment). What props you up? â⬠To which Nigel answers ââ¬Å"You know what it is, Theo? I just donââ¬â¢t consider itâ⬠. He is simply overlooking the inescapable. Mise-en-scene makes a stunning effect as the watcher draws on their earlier information to make associations with the images uncovered in this arrangement. As Theo crosses the scaffold to the Ark of Arts, over the Battersea power station, you can see a gliding pig, suggestive of Pink Floydââ¬â¢s collection spread for ââ¬Å"Animalsâ⬠.As Theo enters the court out of sight, you can see a work of art of two police officers kissing which is a serious well known piece by the road craftsman Banksy. After Theo enters the loft he is welcomed by his cousin Nigel. Behind him is the Statu e Of David and two pooches before it. The Statue of David speaks to social liberties and the two mutts speak to watchmen or reliability, But with the canines before The Statue Of David, This speaks to, Guarding the individuals, Or keeping the individuals from their rights. The scene at that point slices to Theo, Nigel and his impaired child sitting at a supper table and behind Theo on the divider is a huge painting by world popular Pablo Piccaso, The work of art is called ââ¬Å"Guernicaâ⬠it was made in light of the besieging of Guernica, Basque nation, by German and Italian war planes. Guernica shows the catastrophes of war and the enduring it exacts upon people, especially honest regular folks. This work has increased a great status, turning into an executed token of the catastrophes of war, an enemy of war image and an epitome of peace. The existences of Banksy, Michelangelo and Picasso fine art help depict the considerations of society, as these whole craftsman represents, h armony, social equality and hostile to establishmentarianism. Close to the finish of this scene Theo and Nigel are talking by the window and behind them you can see again the drifting pig. Having this coasting pig is exceptionally emblematic utilizing another expression ââ¬Å"pigs will flyâ⬠. This apparently will never occur, a representation for being inconceivable like making arrangements to contact the sun around evening time, however having a real gliding pig speaks to how ââ¬ËPigs Will Flyââ¬â¢ and expectation isn't lost with regards to the fruitlessness of mankind.Using the four procedures, Music, Setting, Lighting and Mise-en-scene, the chief has effectively carried the watchers into the film to encounter it as he proposed us to, which is to challenge our convictions of how our reality capacities. Indeed, even just in this one scene there is such a great amount to comprehend other than simply watching the film, yet the thoughts of the story covered up on display m oving the watcher to add further to the film and the issues it features. Mikeys Meta TV Post
Mikeyâs Meta TV Post Happy holidays to all! I am writing this post for several reasons, which I will list here (notice that lists will soon become the theme of this post): 1. I have not blogged in quite a while. 2. I finally have a small breather of vacation time between reading Early and Regular applications. 3. The end of the year is near, which always calls for lists and countdowns. 4. Ive been meaning to write a post like this since the big TV premiere weeks in September, but traveling got the best of me. 5. Now that most shows are taking holiday breaks, Ive been able to catch up a bit on my shows, and thus there is a smaller likelihood that something will get spoiled for me in the comments. [Important sidenote: I watch almost all my TV online and/or several weeks after its initial airing, and I absolutely hate it when something gets spoiled for me (similar to most people, I assume) so PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE no spoilers in the comments! If you absolutely have to reference something from a show thatll spoil it even if its already been aired please put a disclaimer above it!] Anyways, as youve probably figured out by now, Im a big TV fan. I watch a lot of TV. So, in the spirit of Advent calendars*, Im going to countdown my top 25 favorite currently airing TV shows (along with the network it airs on, in case youre curious): 25. Wwii And The Cold War - 1711 Words
When discussing WWII and The Cold War from an American perspective, the focus is likely to be centered on the wartime efforts of the country while debating strengths and shortcomings within those efforts. However, while the physical and psychological wars waged on, Americaââ¬â¢s homefront saw a continuation of fighting in the form of social movements aimed at attaining equality for all Americans. Minorities like African Americans and Mexican immigrants continued to face discrimination and racism during WWII but were shaped in different ways by the war. The Cold War era in America is a very complex subject marked by heightened tensions, fear, and paranoia among citizens. Much in the same way that WWII shaped the plight of minorities and immigrants on the homefront, the Cold War era also effected what it meant to be an American by shaping the conformist social class. Reaction to this conformity would also be shaped by the Cold War era, and Americans would eventually become critical to these effects. The first few decades of the 20th century marked a progressive period in America that set the framework for many of the social movements and ideals that would continue to shape the country throughout the rest of the century. African Americans continued to push for equal rights through the early 20th century and post-WWI. Latino Conflict Management Free Essays
It cannot be argued that the Latinos/Hispanics are now making their presence felt in most facets of American society more specifically in the urban communities and the workplace. This group of people is of Latin American descent with inherent unique ethnic and cultural backgrounds. Due to this difference it is possible that conflicts may arise in their interaction with Americans and other races. We will write a custom essay sample on Latino Conflict Management or any similar topic only for you Order Now In resolving conflicts with Latinos/Hispanics it is important to at first understand situations or behaviors that easily lead to conflicts with them and to know their attitude or personal concept regarding conflicts. In this way effective approaches or strategies à à à for the resolution of conflict may be undertaken. According to Gabrielidis and et al, ââ¬Å"Some of the most severe problems in intercultural relations arise as a consequence of interpersonal conflictsâ⬠(1197, p. 661). The greatest difference in the attitudes between the Latinos/Hispanics with the Americans is that Latinos areà a people who give prime importance to family relationships before otherà goals or ideas , obligation to in-groups( family, relatives or people of the same race or cultural and ethnic background) à and the surrendering of à personal interests and needs in favor for the à good of the group or community while the Americans ,on the other hand, adopted a culture ofà individualism in which the interests, activities and goals of the individual are top priority. I do not infer here that the Americans do not value family relationships or disregard the interest of others but that it seems that the Latinos placed these issues in higher degree. In the Latino context the innate goodness or uniqueness of a person sometimes do not show itself in their actions or achievements so they emphasized the respect and protection of dignity of a person irregardless of social class while the Americans on the other hand believed that a person can be judged by his actions and achievements. Also while both groups had similar definitions of close friendship, Americans emphasized freedom in the expression of their ideas in the company of a friend and may incline give up the friendship if it stands in the way ofà self-expression and the attainment of personal goals while the Latinos emphasized support and expression of feelings and make necessary adjustments in goals to keep the friendship. Understanding this difference will help me put the conflict in proper perspective. Through this I can analyze whether the source of conflict was that if I made a Latino feel that his family or race was unimportant or that I perceived him as a person of lower dignity or status when I attempted to judged him base on what he had accomplished in life or that I made him feel as if it was his fault that he had a low economic status.. Based on what I had researched and observed the Latinos mostly wants to connect with people and as much as possible maintain harmonious relationships with others. In most cases they tend to avoid conflict to the extent that they are non-confrontational. They worry more on ââ¬Å"saving the face ââ¬Å"of family and others so that most of the times they do not say directly what they mean, as a respeto (a Spanish term which means respect to the dignity of the person). This à attitude is very opposite to the frankness of à Americans à in their interaction with others. An example is this, instead of saying that the clothes I wore do not look good on meà à they will say that my clothes was not exactly nice but that I still look good wearing it. In resolving conflicts with them it is necessary to adopt this kind of indirect communication or else I may aggravate the situation. For example when I differ with opinions with the Latinos and he seemed to insist that he is right, instead of saying that ââ¬Å"I was not happy at all with his attitudeâ⬠I may say instead that ââ¬Å"I understand why he acted the way he did and that he meant well but that it is better to listen also to the opinion of othersâ⬠. In the positive aspect, the idea that Latinos wants to maintain harmonious relationships with others means that they are less likely to initiate conflict and may be open for reconciliation whenever conflict arise. However, it must be remembered that Latino conflict resolution should be appropriate to the setting and must be able to maintain individual pride and honor (Markus Lin, 1999). Also extra attention must be given to the tone of voice and proper eye contact. In resolving Latino/Hispanic conflicts, there are different styles to be use depending on the ethnic and cultural identity salience of the Latino. à ââ¬Å"Ethnic identityâ⬠means that he give more importance to his ethnic origin while ââ¬Å"cultural identityâ⬠à means ââ¬Å" that he give more importance to the larger culture in whom he isà interacting with which in this à case is à the American culture. à Those with strong American cultural identity prefers integrating (high concern for self and high concern for other; also called ââ¬Å"collaboratingâ⬠) and à compromising (moderate concern for self and moderate concern for other) à and uses emotionally expressive styles more à à as compared to those à with weak cultural identity. Also those with a strong ethnic identity use integrating and accommodating (low concern for self and high concern for other; also called ââ¬Å"obliging) more and third party less than those with weak ethnic identity in conflict styles (Cai Fink, 2002). à Latinos, on the other hand, with weak cultural identity used avoiding (low concern for self and low concern for other; also called ââ¬Å"withdrawingâ⬠) more than other ethnic groups à irregardless of cultural orientation à perhaps due to the Latino value of respeto and wanting to maintain respect, dignity and harmony à in social situations (Ting-Toomey et al., 2000). Saving Private Ryan This movie is about World War 2. It starts out on D-Day where their storming the beach. When they open up the doors to their boats most are killed and if you jumped into the water you sank because your packs were to heavy. We won the beach, and when we were walking up the beach they found a house were the enemy was and they opened the door and shot a flame thrower into it and on the other side were all of our men and they jumped out through this crack in the top of the building and were on fire, and one of our generals said "Don't fire, let them burn." Then later on the army had been putting brothers on the same platoons and when the platoon died the parents would get a notice that all of their sons had died on the same day, so they started trying not to let brothers on the same platoon. Well some family named Ryan had had 3 of their sons killed already so the army said that they would get the last brother out. So they got Tom Hanks to round up a group and their mission was to save p rivate Ryan.So they went off and they were walking through this city and this guy was telling them to take his child so she wouldn't die. One of them wanted to but the leader said no. Then a sniper started shooting at them, and when they found the sniper our sniper shot at him and it went through his scope and into his eye. Then they find a general and they ask if he has a private Ryan. He says he does so he goes and gets him. Tom Hanks trys to tell him why he's coming to get him, because his brothers all died. The guy starts crying and he asks how they died. He told him he died in enemy fire. He starts crying again and says they were only in like 3rd grade. So it was the wrong guy. So they keep going and they get to a pasture and they see a big machine gun and they decide to take it out so the next platoon doesn't die because of it. So he agrees and when all the Germans get there they have the bridge wired to explode and all these tar bombs its a bunch of C-4 in your sock with tar on the our side and you stick it to stuff and light the fuse. The translator is a coward and one of his guys is getting attacked by a knife buy one of the enemy's he just cries on the stares while the guy kills his friend and he had a gun and every thing so he was just being a baby. Later on the translator is laying on some rocks and the Germans are on the other side of the pile of rocks and he has a gun still bu t he doesn't pop up and kill them again he acts like a baby. The General of the guys who kills Tom Hanks ,the guys on the other side of the rocks is the prisoner he made them let go, so that guy is responsible for 2 of his own men deaths, all because he is a freakin baby. Louis Riel- Victim of the Frontier essays
Louis Riel- Victim of the Frontier essays In society a man is judged on the actions he makes and the decisions he follows through with. A man of great nature was Louis Riel, whose strong beliefs with an undying love for his western Mtis heritage and until this day many still question his character and life. Louis Riels existence revolved around constant revolt within the time periods of the 1870s and 1880s. It was a period of rapid change in western Canada where the Mtis buffalo herds were being exterminated, treaties were being overlooked, the Canadian Pacific Railway was built and a wave of immigrants flooded the prairies. Indian and Metis people found it hard to give up their freedom and settle into a lifestyle dependent on agriculture when they had been accustomed to a semi-nomadic lifestyle. The Canadian government seemed unresponsive to the pleas of the Metis people for help which left them unrepresented in their struggle for the right to their land and the freedom to make decisions for themselves. Louis Riel faced a b ias courtroom and a rushed justice system who wanted to quickly dispose of his presence, an exaggerated punishment for returning to Canada to make peace with a petition, being incorrectly accused as a traitor and an unworthy punishment due to the death of Thomas Scott. Through analysis of many texts it will be proven that he was a hero who was punished falsely which ultimately made him the most remembered victim of the frontier. Riels injustice began with the final moments of Thomas Scotts life which had to be one of the most evident issues to express how Louis Riel was falsely accused and punished for something he did not commit. When a group of loyalists made an attack on the Mtis at Fort Garry, Louis Riel and his men captured Thomas Scott and imprisoned him as a traitor and a man who can be dangerous to their well being. Riel decided to have him shot instead of keeping him as a captive which he had...

Nitrogen (N2)ââ¬Its Discovery, Danger and Uses
Nitrogen (N2)- Its Discovery, Danger and Uses Nitrogen is the primary gas in the atmosphere. It makes up 78.084 percent by volume in dry air, and that makes it the most common gas in the atmosphere. Its atomic symbol is N and its atomic number is 7.à The Discovery of Nitrogenà Daniel Rutherford discovered nitrogen in 1772. He was a Scottish chemist and a physician with a passion for understanding gases, and he owed his discovery to a mouse. When Rutherford placed the mouse in a sealed, enclosed space, the mouse naturally died when its air ran low. He then attempted to burn a candle in the space. The flame didnt fare well either. He tried phosphorous next with much the same result.à He then forced the remaining air through a solution that absorbed the carbon dioxide that remained in it. Now he had air that was devoid of both oxygen and carbon dioxide. What remained was nitrogen, which Rutherford initially called noxious or phlogisticated air. He determined that this remaining gas was expelled by the mouse before it died.à Nitrogen in Natureà Nitrogen is a part of all plant and animal proteins. The nitrogen cycle is a pathway in nature that transforms nitrogen into usable forms. Although much of the fixation of nitrogen occurs biologically, such as with Rutherfords mouse, nitrogen can be fixed by lightning as well. Its colorless, odorless and tasteless.à Everyday Uses for Nitrogen You may regularly consume traces of nitrogen because its often used to preserve foods, particularly those that are prepacked for sale or sold in bulk. It delays oxidative damage- rotting and spoiling- by itself orà when combined with carbon dioxide. Its also used to maintain pressure in beer kegs.à Nitrogen powers paintball guns. It has a place in making dyes and explosives.à In the health care field, its widely used in pharmacology and is commonly found in antibiotics. Its used in X-ray machines and as an anesthetic in the form of nitrous oxide. Nitrogen is used to preserve blood, sperm and egg samples.à Nitrogen as a Greenhouse Gas Compounds of nitrogen, and particularly nitrogen oxides NOx, are considered greenhouse gases. Nitrogen is used as a fertilizer in soils, as an ingredient in industrial processes, and is released during the burning of fossil fuels.à Nitrogens Role in Pollutionà Sharp rises in the number of nitrogen compounds measured in the air began surfacing during the Industrial Revolution. Nitrogen compounds are a primary component in the formation of ground-level ozone. In addition to causing respiratory problems, nitrogen compounds in the atmosphere contribute to the formation of acid rain. Nutrient pollution, a major environmental problem in the 21st century, results from excess nitrogen and phosphorous accumulated in water and air. Together, they promote underwater plant growth and algae growth, and they can destroy water habitats and upset ecosystems when theyre allowed to proliferate unchecked. When these nitrates find their way into drinking water- and this sometimes occurs- it presents health dangers, particularly for infants and the elderly.

Ethics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 7
Ethics - Essay Example As a future executive leader, I found the results of these assessments to be both enlightening and offered as proverbial food for thought on how this researcher can best reach his goal of professional success. The concept of psychometric testing is a field of study which measures skills, personality traits, and abilities of an individual in order to determine the theoretical behaviors that a test subject reveals in areas of career and personal lifestyle. Based on the results of this psychometric data, the Personal Career Development Profile (PCDP) offers insights into how an individual copes with stressful situations, interacts with others during career and personal situations, and sets a potential career direction in which a person may excel. The PCDP results consist of a narrative, again based on the results of personality testing mechanisms, which offer insight toward a trend of behaviors that a person might exhibit; so as to offer personal understanding of where an individuals strengths and weaknesses lie in terms of career and professional development. In similar respect, the 16 PF testing instrument is designed to assess a set of personality characteristics within the individual being tested in an attempt to pinpoint the degree to which a person exhibits a pattern of behaviors ââ¬â such as relaxed versus tense or concrete thinker versus abstract/conceptual thinker. The 16 PF offers a scale of 1 (being lowest) to 10 (being highest) to measure the degree in which a person might lean when determining potential career direction; or to offer insight into areas that the individual might need to improve upon. For instance, the test subjects goal may be to secure an executive-level position within a major corporation. This goal, undoubtedly, will require substantial leadership skills in terms of maintaining an authoritarian personality. The results of the 16 PF study measures, as one example, the

A Passage to India through the Lens of Orientalism Assignment
A Passage to India through the Lens of Orientalism - Assignment Example A Passage to India through the Lens of Orientalism In A Passage to India, the author bases his story on the complex interactions between British colonialists and the Indian society, setting the story against the backdrop of the independence movement in India and the British Raj. The story revolves around Dr. Aziz, an Indian, and his British friends, including Miss Adela Quested. When Dr. Aziz is accused of assaulting Miss Adela (Forster 55), the run-up and aftermath of the trial bring to the fore common prejudices and racial tensions between the British rulers and indigenous Indians. This paper will seek to understand the events in A Passage to India through the lens of prevalent themes in Orientalism. One of the central themes in Orientalism is that knowledge about the East in Western society consists of preconceived archetypes, rather than reality or facts, which envisions Eastern societies as all similar to each other and, most importantly, radically dissimilar to the West (Forster 21). This apparent a priori knowledge in Western society about the East as being antithetical to Western society is also prevalent in A Passage to India, which turns consistently to the perspective of India as a country that is so exotic, diverse, and vast that Western people cannot understand it. Indeed, the characters compare and contrast India with England, in which the latter is presented as a charming and small island that does not overwhelm its people because of its neat lakes and valleys.

Effect Of Aging On The Reproductive Systems Biology Essay
Effect Of Aging On The Reproductive Systems Biology Essay Reproduction is the process by which organisms generate offspring. Whilst the reproductive system is essential to keeping a species alive, it is not essential to keeping an individual alive. Reproduction is a characteristic that all living things have in common and one of the things that sets them apart from non living things. Effects of aging on the male reproductive system The male reproductive system consists of the testes, a series of ducts and glands and a penis. Sperm are produced in the testes and are transported through the reproductive ducts (including the epididymis, vas deferens, ejaculatory duct and urethra). The reproductive glands (including the seminal vesicles and prostate gland) produce secretions that become part of semen, the fluid that is ejaculated from the urethra. As males age testicular tissue mass decreases, sperm production decreases and erectile function changes. Men, unlike women, do not experience a sudden change in fertility as they age. Instead, changes occur gradually during a process known as andropause. Andropause is a term used to describe a male menopause characterized by a decrease in testosterone. Although not an officially recognized medical term, the notion of andropause has existed since the 1940s. This relates to the slow but steady reduction of the production of the hormones testosterone and dehydroepiandrosterone in middle-aged men which is associated with a decrease in leydig cells (found adjacent to the seminiferous tubules in the testes). The female menopause is a complete cessation of reproductive ability caused by the cessation of the female reproductive system. Andropause is a decline in certain male hormones but it does not cause a mans reproductive system to stop working altogether. The frequency, duration, and rigidity of erections gradually decline throughout adulthood. Levels of testosterone (the male sex hormone) tend to decrease, reducing sex drive (libido) for some men. Sexual responses may become slower and less intense. While this may also be related to decreasing testosterone levels, it can also result from other psychological or social changes related to aging. The impact of low levels of testosterone has also been connected to other symptoms associated with aging including; nervousness, depression, impaired memory, the inability to concentrate, fatigue, insomnia, hot flushes and sweating. Erectile dysfunction (male impotence) is characterized by the inability to develop or maintain an erection of the penis sufficient for satisfactory sexual performance and it is often associated with the aging process. However, erectile dysfunction is more likely to be the result of a medical or psychological problem rather than simple aging. Medications can cause some men to be unable to develop or maintain an erection. In addition, any disorder that impairs blood flow in the penis or causes injury to the nerves has the potential to cause erectile dysfunction. Although it is not an inevitable part of aging, incidences increase with age: about 5 percent of 40-year-old men and between 15 and 25 percent of 65-year-old men experience erectile dysfunction. Blood flow to the penis decreases with age. Other changes include decreases in penile sensitivity and ejaculatory volume, reduced forewarning of ejaculation, orgasm without ejaculation, more rapid detumescence (the return of an erect penis to its natural flaccid state) state, and a longer refractory period (the recovery phase after orgasm before being arousable again). A process called sclerosis may mean that the tubes that carry sperm become less elastic. The testes continue to produce sperm, but the rate of sperm cell production slows. The epididymis, seminal vesicles, and prostate gland lose some of their surface cells but continue to produce the fluid that helps carry sperm. Approximately 50% of men suffer from a condition known as benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH) in which the prostate gland enlarges with age and some of the prostate tissue is replaced with fibroid tissue. This can cause problems with ejaculation and with urination as this partially blocks the urethra (the tube that drains the bladder). Vesicoureteral reflux (backup of urine into the kidneys) may develop if the bladder is inadequately drained, eventually resulting in kidney failure if untreated. Fertility varies from man to man. The volume of fluid ejaculated usually remains the same, throughout life, however, with age there are generally fewer living sperm in the fluid. Prostate cancer becomes more common as men age and bladder cancel is common in older men. Testicular cancers generally occur more often in younger men. Effects of aging on the female reproductive system Menopause is the permanent end of menstrual periods and the end of fertility in women. The average age of menopause for women in the UK is 52. However, menopause may occur normally in women as young as 40. Menopause is considered premature when it occurs before age 40 (also called premature ovarian failure). During the reproductive years, menstrual periods usually occur in approximate monthly cycles, with an egg released from the ovary about 2 weeks after the first day of a period. For this cycle to occur regularly, the ovaries must produce enough oestrogen and progesterone hormone. A distinctive transitional period called perimenopause occurs during the years before and for one year after the last menstrual period. During perimenopause, oestrogen and progesterone levels fluctuate widely, menstrual periods and ovulation become irregular, and symptoms (such as hot flushes) may occur. Eventually, menstrual periods and ovulation end permanently, and pregnancy is no longer possible. Around menopause changes in the genital organs occur rapidly. The tissues of the labia minora, clitoris, vagina, and urethra atrophy. This atrophy can result in chronic irritation, dryness, and a discharge from the vagina which can increase the likeliness of vaginal infections developing. The lining of the vagina becomes thinner, drier, and less elastic and this may make sexual intercourse painful and may increase the risk of inflammation (vaginitis). The labia minora, clitoris, uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries all decrease in size. The lining of the urethra becomes thinner, and the urethra becomes shorter. Because of these changes, microorganisms can enter the body more easily, and some women develop urinary tract infections more easily. With aging, there is a decrease in the amount of muscle and connective tissue, including the muscles, ligaments, and other tissues that support the bladder, uterus, vagina, and rectum. As a result, the affected organs may prolapse (sag or drop down). This can cause a feeling of pelvic pressure or fullness and possible difficulties urinating and/or pain during sexual intercourse. The muscles that control the flow of urine out of the bladder become weaker and stress incontinence can develop. Some women develop urge incontinence, which is an abrupt, intense urge to urinate that cannot be suppressed. Because there is less oestrogen to stimulate milk ducts, the breasts decrease in size and may sag (also due to connective tissue decreasing and fibrous tissue being replaced with fat). Despite these changes, woman can and still do enjoy sexual activity. In addition, after menopause, the ovaries and adrenal glands continue to produce small amounts of testosterone which can: help maintain the sex drive, slow the loss of muscle tissue, and contribute to an overall sense of well-being. Other symptoms thought to be connected to the menopause are mood changes, depression, irritability, hot flushes, anxiety, nervousness, sleep disturbances/insomnia, loss of concentration, headache, and fatigue. However, these symptoms may not directly be related to the decreases in oestrogen levels that occur with menopause as many other factors (such as aging itself or a medical problem) could explain the symptoms. After menopause the decrease in oestrogen levels causes changes that can continue to negatively affect overall health. As oestrogen decreases, the amount of collagen (a protein that makes skin strong) and elastin (a protein that makes skin elastic) also decrease. Thus, the skin may become thinner, dryer, less elastic, and more vulnerable to injury. Oestrogen decreases can also often leads to a decrease in bone density and sometimes to osteoporosis because oestrogen helps maintain bone. Bone becomes less dense and weaker, making fractures more likely. After menopause, levels of lipids, particularly low-density lipoprotein (LDL bad cholesterol), increase in women while levels of high-density lipoprotein (HDL good cholesterol) decrease. These changes in lipid levels may also partly explain why atherosclerosis and thus coronary artery disease become more common among women after menopause. Until menopause, the high oestrogen levels may protect against coronary artery disease.

Oil and wasser assignment Essay
The story began from two enterprises. The company Royal ââ¬âbiscuit, would like to merge Edeling, a company from Germany. Brighton, CEO of Royal-biscuit, had coordinated with Wallach for many times. When they decide to merge together, they should have known that both of their cultures are quite incompatible which might result in severe conflict. In this case, we can see that most of the difficulties are about cross-culture difference. The culture of Royal-Biscuit emphasizes ââ¬Å"Activeâ⬠, ââ¬Å"Ambitiousâ⬠, and ââ¬Å"Fast-trainingâ⬠, and thatââ¬â¢s the reason why it changed food industry in UK within 10 years. However, Edeling is a family owned business with 120-year history, and quite popular in Germany. Employee in Royal-Biscuit were afraid that they might make things slowly down if everything are well-prepared and step by step, while employee in Edeling were afraid that they didnââ¬â¢t respect their history at all, just eager to succeed in short term. Such situation not only happened in internal management, but also happened in human resource, like recruitment for talented. Applications for Psychology in Adult Learning - 1319 Words
Psychology and adult learning are inherently linked given their focus upon the internal processes of the mind. The field of psychology has increasingly been applied to inform the adult education practice. Psychology is oftentimes incorporated into the foundation of the training that is received by adult educators in training. The field of psychology provides answers to questions that are common within adult education. These questions include ââ¬Å"What motivates students to attend classes? Through what processes to adults learn best? How can I adjust my teaching practices to take into account the learning styles of my students?â⬠(Tennant, 2006). The capacity of adult educators to effectively understand the learning processes and needs ofâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦SECTION II: KEY FINDINGS AND INTERPRETATION Key Findings The first key finding is the fact that adults do not experience a decrease in IQ as they grow older (Clegg, Hollis, Mawhood, Rutter, 2005). This means that instructional practices need not be made simpler or easier to process for adults in education. The process of growing into an adult involves the development of identity and oneââ¬â¢s societal position. Thus the development experienced by the adult depends in a sense upon their status and position in life. Through an understanding of the psychological implications of adults seeking out education, the adult educator is able to make better informed decisions by tailoring practices to the psychological receptivity of their students (Tennant, 2006). Psychology is a diverse field that is oftentimes centered upon scientific experimentation. This makes it difficult at times to apply the findings to the practical environment. Pourchot and Smith (2004) have found that despite the fact that many adult educators consid er developmental psychology to be inapplicable to adult education given that experimental results are inapplicable to practice, there are still benefits to be realized through the application of developmental psychology into the realm of adult education. It was found that given adult styles of cognition, instruction is most effective when it matches ââ¬Å"real-life applications within learnersââ¬â¢ social contextsâ⬠Show MoreRelatedEducation: Learning Environments1190 Words à |à 5 PagesLearning environments that effectively meet the needs of adult students build upon the wealth of knowledge in the classroom, are student-driven, and have direct application to the problems of the adults everyday life. GE Bildungsroman Free Essays
The first stepping stone in Pipââ¬â¢s coming of age is finding a place to belong. A quote that shows the fact that Pip did not know where his place was is when he says ââ¬Å"l am ashamed to say it,â⬠I returned, ââ¬Å"and yet itââ¬â¢s no worse to say it than to think it. You call me a lucky fellow. We will write a custom essay sample on GE Bildungsroman or any similar topic only for you Order Now Of course, I am. I was a blacksmithââ¬â¢s boy but yesterday; I am-?what shall I say I am-?to-day? â⬠(Dickens 196). Before Pip knows where he belongs he lives the dreaded life of a blacksmith. He knows what he wants, but he must grow to achieve his goals. An instance in which Pip shows that he has found where he belongs is when he says ââ¬Å"As passed the church, feltâ⬠¦ Sublime compassion for the poor creatures who were destined to go there, Sunday after Sunday, all their lives through, and to lie obscurely at last among the low green moundsâ⬠(Dickens 139). This quote shows how much Pip despised his old small town life. At this point in the story, he seems to know what he wants, and has no intention Of living and dying in the same place. Another quote which shows that Pip comes of age by finding where he belongs is when he tells Estella ââ¬ËYou have been in every prospect I have ever seen since ââ¬â on the river, on the sails of the hips, on the marshes, in the clouds, in the light, in the darkness, in the wind, in the woods, in the sea, in the streetsâ⬠(345). Pip, completely infatuated with Estella, has found his place physically in London, but mentally with Estella. No matter what he cannot stop loving Estella and is convinced that she is the one for him. Pip had to first find where he was destined to be to come of age. Once Pip finds where he belongs, he also figures out who he can depend on, which is another milestone in Pipââ¬â¢s coming of age. The first lifelong companion that Pip figures out he can depend on is Joe when he tells him ââ¬Å"l sis it was only me that got put out, Pip; I wish there wasnââ¬â¢t no Tickler for you, old chap; I wish I could take it all on myselfâ⬠¦ â⬠(50). Through Joe?s comforting and caring words, Pip knows he can depend on him as not only a best friend but a father. Despite the abuse of Mrs.. Joe, he wants to do right by women, and more than anything else, he wants to protect Pip, in which Pip comes to realize and respect about him. Another person Pip learns he can depend on is Biddy, from which he says ââ¬Å"She was not beautiful ââ¬â she was common, and could not be like Estella ; but she was pleasant and wholesome ND sweet-temperedâ⬠(131). Although he will never love her in the way he loves Estella, Pip will always trust and depend on Biddy because of her patient behavior and her role in helping Pip with his education. Biddy is a constant in Pipââ¬â¢s life, a stable aspect in which he knows he can always depend on. Another person who Pip depends on throughout his coming of age is Miss Having when she says ââ¬Å"You made your own snares. Never made themâ⬠(361 Pip can depend on Miss Having to be honest with him. Without the honesty from Miss Having, it would be harder for Pip to grow up. Once Pip learned whom he could depend on, those individuals helped him grow up and come of age. After learning who was most important in his life, another stepping stone in Pipââ¬â¢s coming of age was learning what is most important in life. A quote that shows the fact that Pip did not know what was actually important is when he says ââ¬Å"l was to leave the village at five in the morningâ⬠¦ And I told Joe that was to walk all alone. I am afraidâ⬠¦ That this purpose originated in my sense of the contrast there would be between me and Joe, if we went to coach together (156). Pip was so concerned about his social status that he Was ashamed to be seen with Joe. Before Pip learns what is most important in life, he thinks it is his social status. A quote showing Pipââ¬â¢s transition into realizing the important aspects of life is when he thinks, ââ¬Å"It was fine summer weather again, and, as I walked sunshine should be softened as they thought of me (260). In this thought, Pip is reminiscing on his childhood and with this develops a hope to be remembered after he is gone. Pip comes to realize in the back of his mind that he wants to be remembered or his personality, and not so much his status. Another quote in which Pip finally realizes what is most important is when he states ââ¬Å"l washed the weather and the journey from my face and hands, and went out to the memorable old house that it would have been so much the better for me never to have entered, never to have seenâ⬠(270). Pip comes to the conclusion that he wouldââ¬â¢ve been better off if he had never entered the sati house or ever became infatuated with the idea of being wealthy. Pip opens his eyes to realize that the road to wealth and status never even mattered, and this is here he comes of age. How to cite GE Bildungsroman, Papers

Corporations Law Gaining Personal Benefits
Question: Describe about the Corporations Law for Gaining Personal Benefits. Answer: Introduction In the given situation, Dr. Dawes, Mr. Foster, Mr. Huckenfusser and Mrs. Duck who bought certain shares of MMM subsequently sold them off by way of information they received from the internal sources of GML and earned profits. But they would not have been entitled to receive had the information from GML be not received by them. Thus, some of them have become liable under the civil penalties in the Corporations Act. Preliminary Issues There are certain breaches of law in the given situation. While some people misused the information they received from GML, there are others who purely traded in matters for gaining personal benefits. There are also some others who though did not cause detriment to the company as such, but nevertheless derived benefits from the minutes of the meetings in GML. Thus, the issues that arise in the matter are as follows: Whether Dr. Dawes is liable under the Corporations Act for the benefits drawn by his wife by investing in the shares of MMM? Whether there is any liability on Mr. Foster for dealing in insider trading and making QECG buy shares of MMM and whether he is liable for prosecution in the matter? Whether Mr. Huckenfusser has used his position disadvantageously and whether his personal gains in the matter are liable to be prosecuted with proceedings against him? Whether Mrs. Duck holds any liability in the entire matter and whether she has done anything wrong by investing in the shares of MMM and later on selling off the shares by obtaining information from Mr. Huckenfusser? It should be noted that some of the people mentioned above are in the position of directors; some are pseudo directors while others are in the simple position of employees of the company. In such a situation, dealing with all the issues under the shoes of the director would not be a sound idea (Braun et al., 2014). Hence, it is necessary to take up each of the issues separately and analyze the instances under independent legal provisions. There might be some who are liable for civil penalties, while there are some who are just an accomplice in the matter and have not done anything that is in contravention of the law (Lumbers v W Cook Builders Pty Ltd (in liquidation), [2008]). These shall be conclusively determined after making a thorough analysis of the Corporations Law and understanding the breached provisions. Possible Breaches of the Corporations Law To validly bring about a suit against a director or officer of a company for breach of law under Section 183 of the Corporations Act, it is necessary to prove the following: That the person against whom the matter is being instituted was at the relevant time, an officer of the Company or the corporation (Australian Securities Investments Commission v DB Management Pty Ltd, [2000]); That the relevant misused information was acquired by the person directly; That the information that was obtained by him was acquired entirely because of his position as an officer of the company and he would not have obtained that information if he was not an officer; The person made that improper use of the obtained information (Chapman, 2005); That the improper use of the information was made by him so that he could gain an advantage for himself; The improper use of information could also have been made by the person to cause detriment to the company or the corporation (Lim, 2013). In the given situation Dr. Dawes acquired the information about the shares of MMM because of the directorial meeting of which he was a part. He had already declared that he had become insolvent and had no assets left. This indicates that Dr. Dawes concealed none of the material facts. He came to know of the shares of MMM and advised his wife to invest in the shares. After that, he subsequently came to know of the falling prices of the shares and advised his wife to sell the shares off. She, in turn, earned a good amount of profits out of this transaction. It can be said that though the information was obtained from the position of an officer of the company by Dr. Dawes, yet he did not cause any detriment to the company because of the information and its use. He purely invested in certain stock and derived personal benefits. Moreover, Section 183 applies to those people who are the officers or directors of the company (Google Inc. v Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, [201 3]). However, Dr. Dawes was not eligible to remain a director at that relevant time, and no permission was taken from ASIC in that instance as well (Mamutse, 2014). Thus, it can be said that Dr. Dawes is immune from receiving penalties in the given matter. Mr. Foster was a Director of the company, and after he had come to know of the information about the stocks of MMM, he left GML and joined QECG. He advised the Board of QECG to make an investment in the shares of MMM so that they could gain profits. It is evident in the given situation that while Mr. Foster gave the financial advice to QECG, he was not associated with GML in any way and was not an officer or employee or director there. However, one cannot disregard the reality that the financial advice was given by Mr. Foster to QECG out of the information that he had received because of being a part of the directorial members of GML when it was discussed there. There is clear indication that he took an advantageous position and out misused the information he had gathered (Lichtenberg, 2010). QECG would not have known about the stocks of MMM has Mr. Foster not told them about it. This indicates misuse of information and though he did not cause any detriment to GML, yet his action was one that could have resulted in insider trading (Australian Securities and Investments Commission v Lanepoint Enterprises Pty Ltd (Receivers and Managers Appointed), [2011]). Thus, it can be said that Mr. Foster was liable for a civil penalty in the given matter. Mr. Huckenfusser is an employee of the company is but is neither an officer nor a director of GML. Because of his role in the office, he received the beneficial interest of knowing about the stocks of MMM and him pass on this knowledge to an outsider who was Mrs. Duck. This information was given out by him to gain personal advantage entirely and clear off his debts. Mrs. Duck in the given instance is not at fault because she wanted to take an independent financial advice from Mr. Huckenfusser (Symon, 2006). However, this advice given by him because he came to know about the shares of MMM from the Board meetings of GML. Thus, it can be said that this amounts to a breach of the fiduciary duties as stated in the Corporations Act and though Mrs. Duck is not liable in the matter, Mr. Huckenfusser is liable for his actions. Defenses Each of the four people about whom discussions have been made can take certain defenses to state their innocence in the matter. Dr. Dawes has acted honestly in the matter and that he intended to do was gain some monetary advantage because he was already bankrupt and had also declared the same to the Directors of GML. Though he has contravened some provisions yet, his position does not make him guilty under the law, and he can claim immunity under Section 1317S (Hackner, 2010). Mr. Foster, however, does not have any defenses in the matter, and all that he can state that is because of his actions, GML did not incur any losses in the matter. However, this cannot be used as a strong defense by him, and the ASIC will have to take up a procedural investigation in the matter (Wong, 2014). As far as the position of Mrs. Duck is concerned, she is immune in the entire matter and she can claim that she was not at all associated with GML in any way. She just sought for some financial investment advice from her brother in law, and this was done in good faith by her (Wright, 2010). She initially invested according to the advice that she received and also sold off her shares from subsequent advice. Moreover, proceedings cannot be initiated against her because she is not a director or officer of GML (Keay, 2014). Hence, she is not liable under Section 183 of the Corporations Act. Remedies It can be said in the matter that there are civil remedies in the given instance. Once breach of duty is proved, the Courts can decide on any one of the following remedies: A pecuniary penalty amounting to $200,000 may be imposed for contravening the law; They might be asked to pay compensation for damage for contravening a civil penalty provision under Section 1317E of the Corporations Act 2001 in relation to GML; They might also face disqualification from managing other corporations thereon (Boral Besser Masonry Ltd v Australian Competition and Consumer Commission, [2003]). Conclusion Thus, it can be concluded saying that there are some who have breached the provisions of Section 183 of the Corporations Act and hence civil penalties can be imposed on them. However, the procedural process has to be taken up by ASIC before declaring breach in any instance. References Australian Securities Investments Commission v DB Management Pty Ltd[2000] HCA p.7. His similes and metaphors are accurate, his style draws its humor funny. Perhaps it is my nadumki but Bukowski seemed very similar to another well-known drinkers -. Sergei Dovlatov Even I do not know whether to advise Bukowski wide range of readers, but I personally their familiarity with the author will continue to . I like it. Very.
